Creating a Signature Tag

A quick and easy way to market your Web site, business, or announce a new product or service is to include a signature tag line at the end of all e-mail correspondence.

Many e-mail systems offer this feature. Check your mail center administrative features and look for instructions to create a mail or auto signature file. You can usually create several and just keep changing the default depending on your current marketing needs.

It is wise to keep the signature tag fresh and new, or continuously recycle ones you've used before. If you use the same one over and over, some of your frequent correspondents may not take notice.

Announce give-aways or free items like e-zine subscriptions, changes to your Web site or career information and advice. Come up with a unique and catchy phrase that associates your business with something clients and potential customers will remember.

Be sure to include contact information such as a phone number, fax number, e-mail address and URL address after your signature and title and/or company name. A brief explanation of what your company does is helpful and can draw attention to your services.

Don't stop at e-mail tag lines. Always include a tag line on any articles you may write and add a signature identification to your advice when posting in an online forum. Always remember to include your Web address. It is guaranteed traffic to your site.
